Beat Street was a short lived comic strip that I created for an equally short-lived local Toronto entertainment newspaper called SMASH. The toon was originally going to be called "Too Much Music" as it was a parody of the rock'n'pop industry, but the publisher feared that the video station Much Music wouldn't take kindly to it, and therefore wouldn't advertise. So I changed the name, but Much Music never did end up advertising, which just goes to show that artistic concessions are usually the result of misguided concerns. It should also be explained that I made my byline name "the Fishbone" because that was my nickname at the time. Long story...
